The French Center of Excellence and Department of French and Italian hosted Professor Chase Cormier for this year's Jules Verne Lecture in Creative Writing on March 17, 2025 at Thompson Library. Professor Cormier's lecture, entitled "One Word at a Time, One Breath at a Time: How Chase Cormier Writes Now", was an exploration of his writing journey and style. We thank Professor Cormier, a visiting faculty member in the Department of Classics and Modern Languages at Xavier University,  for his time in meeting with students, graduate associates, faculty, and community members!

In December of 2020, the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States selected the Department of French and Italian at The Ohio State University to join its prestigious network of Centers of Excellence. OSU’s Center of Excellence has the goal of promoting French and Francophone culture in the Midwest and beyond.
